Jakarta in January-Rain

Greater Jakarta is the heavy rainy day, this morning. It has been rainy since 3 am. As usual, flood and traffics congestion are being the bad effect. In East-Jakarta spot and around, I saw more than 50 cm to 1 meter deep of flood. It has been happening in Kampung Melayu area, Bekasi in some spot, Tambun and the circle and many more. This is a little bit of road along my worked-route. It was certainly more and more spot-flood in other Greater Jakarta.

Fortunately, I stay near Jakarta East Channel that links water flow from settlement to the channel and lastly in Java Sea it was ended up. So, though heavy rain was happened, it has been safe and do not panic with this. 

Flood and traffic congestion are the classical problems to Jakarta people. But, it does not mean we are not care. We must have awareness and confidence, starting from ourselves, having a healthy life and passion to change our life for a better.

Learning Presentation by Watching TEDx Talks

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TED means Technology, Entertainment and Design. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

I really excited by watching TEDx Talks Video though only watching through Youtube. I can learn everything (ideas, thoughts or even how and what to do) from local famous people from variety background. Let us watch Anies Baswedan’s Talk for example. He would like to introduce an idea (and now it has been a real) namely “Indonesia Mengajar”. It is a program for those (the students) who have good academic & leadership achievements to do something by teaching for a year an elementary schools in a remote area. By joining at “Indonesia Mengajar” he hopes the students would have world class competence but still have a grass root experience. This program is fully appreciated by government, education practice and students around Indonesia.

Another good presentation from TEDx is presented by Enda Nasution. He is one of Indonesian Blogger, owner of www.enda.goblogmedia.com. Enda fluently presented about social media booming which completed by data and factual theme. This is interesting. Because, according to him, Indonesia is the top of three in user of social media. You should watch their presentation on Youtube for further.   

So, by watching some people presenting their idea, I draw a conclusion : we can do like they do, and we have to dream by not only dream but also doing, practicing and then delivering a dream and sooner make it happen. Come on!

A Morning Poet

I want to enjoy the beauty of morning

'Rohis' Issue Vs Students Brawl

Last week, we were headed by hot issue about ‘early doctrine terrorists’ who was involved national TV station MetroTV versus Islamic Organization of School (Rohis). MetroTV was allegedly to slander ‘Rohis’ as a place to doctrine young terrorist through its statement. Organization ‘Rohis’ of Jabotabek protested and prosecuted MetroTV to revoke the statement. Ignore MetroTV whatever they was forgive or not, because Rohis has been already angry with this! MetroTV seems indiscreet ‘Rohis’ as a useless organization.

And see what is happening now. Classical problems of youth  : student brawls. Two students died in a week, and others were critical. We didn’t know who was wrong with this, School or Family. Perhaps, both of them have been falling down to build next generations. School and family should responsible for developing youth to be a strong and unbeatable generations. It has big role to ‘grow’ next gen so that they do not stuck on social problems e.g. drugs and brawls.

Thus, ‘Rohis’ has a role to build mentally of next gen than they’re involved to brawls. MetroTV, please do not demoralized their fight.

The Power of Giving

Yesterday, I read and did blog walking to a well-known blog : www.muhammadassad.wordpress.com. The owner, Muhammad Assad,  is one of Indonesian Famous Young People who was reached many achievements. Notes from Qatar (Published in 2 Volumes) is one of his famous books, besides he was being a free journalist, traveler and scholar-master student. 

One of topic he was discussed is about the power of giving (infaaq, sadaqah and kinda). I actually ever read and discussed about this topic, but maybe it was not touched and I obviously ignore it. I feel, every people has many miracle that represents their kindness they was done. If every people should have a kindness (whatever the name) in their life, they would receive and pick up the kindness too. A kindness they was done is really do for their selves. Some people believe to this, but some people do not.

As a Moslem, I trust to Al Qur’an, as The Scriptures, Guidelines and Bringing Wisdom and Philosophy. Al Qur’an guide whoever you are giving infaq, sedeqah and kinda, is alike planting a tree, which is in their branch growing seven branches, each branch has a hundred seeds. Allah will guide you, and we must have getting successful if we would like to do it. It will also will keep you, but you should keep your assets.

We easily find chance to do kindness in everywhere. A box place to collect infaq is ready to fill if we just arrived in the doors of minimarket, office, masjid and some place where you want to go. Do not be stingy with this, and let us being a very keen people to give more. Let it works then. Even soon.

She Learns As Her Own Way

My daughter, 22 months, has been growing as an energetic and smart kid. Every she hears music, she would like to dance as the rythm. She also follows the dance as she sees. She learns a sing by listening, memorizing and following the lyrics.

Look at the Sunday morning, after taking a bath, she would like to listen the music and asks me turn on the video. Soon after the song turns on, for example if the singer sings "Balonku Ada Lima", she'll say "...ma", Rupa-rupa warnanya, she'll say "...nya" and so on until the song will be end. She learns as her own way...

After almost 5 years goes on...

I have been waiting for the moment, but actually my name has not will be written there. Okay, this is a rotation. I believe, this is the best plan for me. Though someday It makes me boring, I do really enjoy my job and my place till now. I am not sure If I had a new place, It would be nice or better than now. In my mind, someday I do feel haunted by voting the worst between the worst. Will I get a new place but I am not comfort, or keep stay here but I do enjoy this? Actually, my heart says, here is wonderful place where I can do something by doing a relax, busy or hectic job.

Think about my place now, I should say thank to God, cause He blessed all my wishes. For almost five years, here, I experienced by knowledge, social hub, emotional things, leadership, publics speaking and many more. My place is also located far away from bustles and hustles, not far enough from my home and I avoid from bad traffics jam. So, I draw a conclusion, go away the sorrow… and let it flows.

Work Hard, Play Hard!

Forget about your failure last day… After working hard all the day, now it is time to enjoy and indulge yourself by getting more and more saving. I heard a good news for my grading upstep to the next level. It means, I earn Rp 310.000,- monthly add. Oh, I thank a lot to God for this bless. May I spent a lot for my zakat.

And next, finally I make a big deal to sell my house and get a lot ‘gain’ after 7 years capital gain up. No, I say ‘gain’ because it is rarely or… seldom somebody call ‘gain’ in the land property. But actually, I do agree with this. Just for example, I spent Rp 80 million for my house in 2004, and this year I sold it Rp 180 million. At a glance, I earn Rp 100 millions gain. The question is : Can I buy a similar-type house with Rp 180 million for now? Should I spend Rp 100 million for my pleasure?

Of course, fortunately I am not a shophaholic or… addict to spend my money for my pleasure. This is a habit problem. Not difficult, just change our mindset become a financial adviser to yourself, and make your money not worthless.
